Tiong calls for probe into series of convenience store attacks in Sarawak

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has urged police to launch a comprehensive investigation into a series of attacks on convenience stores in Sarawak, reports say. The incidents, involving explosive devices, arson, and vandalism, are alleged to have targeted 24-hour stores in Kuching, Sri Aman, and Bintulu, according to the source.

Tiong emphasized that the attacks should be examined collectively to ascertain if they were related and to identify those responsible. He specifically condemned the attacks, which occurred while individuals were present in the stores, as a disregard for the law and human life, stating on Facebook. Tiong called on authorities to determine the motive behind targeting the stores, whether anyone directed the perpetrators, and whether the incidents constituted an organized operation.

If not addressed promptly, Tiong questioned the purpose of the law, asserting that the real masterminds must face accountability. He urged authorities to resolve disputes through legal means and not to condone violence or intimidation, warning against allowing gangster-style violence to persist.
