'This Fool Thanks You': Vir Das Reacts As He Bags Third International Emmy Nomination For Netflix's Fool Volume

Actor-comedian Vir Das has been nominated for his third International Emmy, this time for his Netflix stand-up special Fool Volume. The recognition marks a significant milestone in Das's international career, coming three years after he won the International Emmy for Comedy for his previous special, Vir Das: Landing. In a celebratory Instagram post, Das expressed gratitude for the nomination and his audience, writing, "Ummmmm.

An International Emmy Nomination. Our third for India. This fool thanks you." Fellow celebrities, including Zoya Akhtar, Bhumi Pednekar, Suhail Nayyar, and Sheeba Chadha, congratulated Das on the achievement. Fool Volume holds special significance for Das as he lost his voice shortly before filming the special. Rather than canceling the project, he rewrote the show in silence and performed much of it without rehearsal.

The themes of silence, self-doubt, uncertainty, and rediscovering joy became central to the show. Reflecting on the nomination, Das remarked, "There's something wonderfully strange about being nominated for an International Emmy for a show called Fool Volume." He also reflected on his journey to the Emmy, noting that For India was the first time he realized Indian comedy could find a place on a global platform, while Landing earned him the Emmy.

Das continues to expand his reach to international audiences with his ongoing stand-up tour, I Say We Run, which began at London's Royal Albert Hall and will conclude in New York's Radio City Music Hall on January 30, 2027.
