Thailand slams chaotic Asian Games organisation as 'musical chairs'

Thailand has criticized the organization of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan, comparing it to a chaotic game of musical chairs. Athletes have faced issues with accommodation, long delays at airports, and unreliable transport services. Competitors have had to deal with buses arriving late or not at all, leading to teams requesting alternative accommodations.

The Games have featured a lack of traditional athletes' villages, with participants staying in temporary container-style huts, hotels, and the Costa Serena cruise ship in Nagoya port. However, the number of available rooms on the cruise ship and hotels did not match the actual number of athletes, causing further confusion. On peak days, the ship provided only 170 beds when 201 were needed.

Athletes have expressed their frustrations online, as well as issues with the quality of food. Over 4,000 people are currently staying on the ship and in the container huts, while the Thailand team had to send some staff away from the Games' center due to accommodation shortages. Games organizers acknowledged the problems and stated they were working to improve services, increasing shuttle buses and setting up a system to handle complaints.
