Telefónica e Indra se alían en Defensa para satélites

Indra, Telefónica, Vodafone and TRC have won four remaining lots of a framework agreement worth up to €258 million for telecommunications services and infrastructure of the Spanish Ministry of Defence's private and strategic communications network, I3D. Vodafone Spain secured lot 2, covering the mobile telecommunications services and infrastructure of I3D for nearly €29 million over three years, with a possible extension of 12 months.

The Spanish investment firm Zegona's subsidiary, Telefónica, competed for this contract along with Orange and Orange. Vodafone's offering includes mobile voice, data, messaging services, infrastructure evolution, advanced management and monitoring solutions with 24/7 operation and support, and AI capabilities to enhance technological autonomy.

The temporary alliance of Hisdesat (controlled by Indra) and Telefónica won the contract for I3D's satellite communications services for €23.39 million, with Orange and Satlink as other competitors. TRC won the contract for secure video conferencing services for the Ministry of Defence for €12.45 million, extending its secure video conferencing services to the Ministry's non-classified networks.

The remaining lot for internet access services was awarded to a Telefónica-Ultra partnership, with Telefónica alone competing for the technical and logistical support for I3D services, valued at €43.85 million. Telefónica also secured the contract for internet access services for €2.62 million. Overall, Telefónica captured five of the eight lots in the auction for a total of around €176 million, representing nearly 70% of the maximum value of the framework agreement.

I3D is the infrastructure that unifies and supports the Ministry of Defence's information systems and services, crucial for defense communications.
