Teen rocker Nene Royal becomes first Thai to win America’s Got Talent

Nene Royal, a 16-year-old Thai musician, has made history by becoming the first Thai winner of America’s Got Talent. On Tuesday, she dazzled the audience with a heavy metal rendition of "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes, outperforming nine other finalists including magicians, canine performers, and even a robot dance crew.

This victory, made possible by her viral audition video which garnered 20 million views, has earned Nene the admiration of not only her fans but also the Thai government, who hailed her as an inspiration to those who dare to dream big. Nene's journey to success began at the tender age of seven when she first picked up the guitar.

In her hometown of Phuket, she would often busk at the Naka Weekend Market, where her talent and determination have captured the hearts of many. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul praised Nene, stating that her win brought honor to Thailand and instilled pride in her people. The Naka Weekend Market Facebook page expressed its pride in Nene, while her school, Kajonkiet International School, also congratulated her on this remarkable achievement.
