Sybiha, Nordic-Baltic Countries Discuss Expectations For Ukraine Recovery Conference 2027

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha joined Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna and foreign ministers from the Nordic-Baltic Eight nations to discuss expectations for the 2027 Ukraine Recovery Conference, which will take place in Tallinn. Sybiha expressed gratitude for Estonia's leadership in organizing the conference and emphasized that URC 2027 should concentrate on concrete decisions, agreements, and projects, with a focus on defense, energy resilience, and critical infrastructure.

He pointed out that holding the conference in winter would underscore the ongoing challenges Ukraine faces, as Russia continues to exploit the cold as a weapon, particularly targeting the nation's energy system. The Ukrainian minister highlighted Ukraine's desire to transition from military assistance toward long-term security partnerships, with a particular emphasis on enhancing joint defense production, forging new agreements under Ukraine's Drone Deals initiative, and bolstering the anti-ballistic coalition.

Sybiha also noted that the Nordic-Baltic Eight countries have already extended over €42 billion in military, financial, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, providing a robust foundation for the Tallinn conference to become a collaborative project involving all participating nations and attracting further governments and businesses.

Sybiha reiterated the vision for a future Ukraine that Russia cannot destroy, emphasizing that recovery entails building a stronger, more resilient, safer, and prosperous nation. He conveyed his appreciation to Estonia and the Nordic-Baltic countries for their support in helping Ukraine forge this brighter future.
