#SHOWBIZ: Actress Jesseca Liu tends to bedridden husband Jeremy Chan after severe back injury

In Kuala Lumpur, actress Jesseca Liu found herself tending to her bedridden husband, actor Jeremy Chan, after he suffered a severe back injury. The 45-year-old actor had aggravated an old back injury during filming of Mediacorp's All That Glitters, compounding past strains and lack of rest. Chan's pain was so intense that he could barely move for two days, relying entirely on Liu's assistance for basic tasks.

Chan revealed that his back issues began in 2023 while shooting All That Glitters, where his character, a Muay Thai boxer, caused him to occasionally skip proper warm-ups. His condition worsened when he attempted self-treatment with acupuncture, only to find he could barely walk. Liu called him to the hospital, where he received pain relief and steroid injections.

For two days, every movement had to be slow and cautious. Liu, who offered to join Chan on set as his assistant during his recovery, declined to spare her. After three acupuncture sessions, Chan's mobility improved enough for him to manage independently. The incident highlighted the importance of taking one's physical health seriously. Chan now makes it a point to stretch more and takes his time getting out of bed.
