Russian attacks kill at least 16, injure 59 across Ukraine as Kyiv hit by waves of drones, ballistic missiles

Russian strikes across Ukraine have claimed at least 16 lives and injured 59 individuals in the past 24 hours, with Kyiv bearing the brunt of the assault. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that three waves of Russian ballistic missiles targeted the capital overnight, striking residential buildings, a maternity hospital, and critical infrastructure.

Kyiv authorities reported 16 fatalities and 59 injuries, while regional officials in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Odesa, and Kherson issued their own casualty tallies. Russia deployed 282 attack drones, including jet-powered models, as well as Zircon anti-ship missiles and Iskander-M, S-400, and KN-23 ballistic missiles. Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 227 aerial threats, including 219 drones, four Zircon missiles, three ballistic missiles, and one Banderol munition.

The attacks targeted 13 locations, with remnants falling at 10 sites. In Donetsk Oblast, eight people died and 19 were wounded, while Oleksandrivka, Kramatorsk, and Sloviansk each saw fatalities ranging from one to five. Kharkiv Oblast recorded six deaths and 12 injuries, including damage to an agricultural facility in Stara Hnylytsia.

Sumy Oblast suffered nine injuries, and Odesa Oblast endured a mass combined assault that damaged a hospital, school, residential structures, a shopping center, warehouses, and other civilian facilities. Kherson Oblast reported two casualties from Russian attacks on critical infrastructure and residential areas. Zaporizhzhia Oblast witnessed six injuries, while Dnipropetrovsk Oblast saw one fatality.

Russian forces conducted nearly 60 strikes against 22 settlements in Odesa Oblast and nearly 700 attacks across 55 settlements in Zaporizhzhia Oblast over the past 24 hours.
