Robert Pattinson Casts Doubt on a Crossover Between His Batman and James Gunn's Superman

Robert Pattinson finds it hard to envision a world where his Batman and James Gunn's Superman could share the same universe, expressing skepticism about a potential crossover. During an interview with LADbible, the actor remarked that merging his take on a dark, grounded Batman with James Gunn's lighter, more fantastical DC universe would be challenging.

"I think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of that world," Pattinson stated. He added that the intense, specific tone of Batman leaves a lasting impact, affecting both mood and lighting for months after filming. This immersion in the character's atmosphere may be why Pattinson believes a crossover wouldn't work, preferring to keep Batman in his own separate realm.

Fans have been divided over whether Pattinson should also play Batman in Gunn's main DC universe or remain confined to his own separate part of the multiverse. James Gunn has revealed that a Batman film featuring an older Bruce Wayne, with Damian Wayne as his sidekick, is in development. However, there have been few updates on the project, with some speculating that DC may wait for Matt Reeves to complete his story before introducing another Batman to avoid confusing audiences.

Despite the stark contrast in tone between The Batman and Gunn's Superman, the DCU already boasts darker stories like The Lanterns and Clayface, an R-rated body horror film set in the same universe. Given the strong potential for contrast between Pattinson's Batman and David Corenswet's Superman, some fans hope for a charming "World's Finest" collaboration.

However, Pattinson's comments suggest that such a crossover may not happen anytime soon. The Batman Part 2 is scheduled to release on February 18, 2027, while Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to Superman, will hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
