Qatar participates in coordination meeting for Arab Interior Ministers Council's meeting

On the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly session in New York, the State of Qatar took part in the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism. The delegation was led by Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, Her Excellency stressed the significance of reinforcing the international commitment to the rights of victims and survivors of terrorism. She emphasized the necessity of bolstering their resilience and recovery, as well as amplifying their voices and experiences in international forums.

Her Excellency also praised the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) for its role in turning international commitments into practical support and technical assistance for member states. She highlighted the contribution of the Global Programme on Parliamentary Engagement in Preventing and Countering Terrorism, which the UNOCT Programme Office in Doha has been implementing to raise parliamentary awareness of the challenges faced by victims of terrorism and support their rights and needs.

The State of Qatar's national priorities in combating terrorism align with the international priorities, according to Her Excellency. The country's comprehensive national strategy against terrorism is in line with the four pillars of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.

Finally, Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani reaffirmed Qatar's dedication to the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism's endeavors to promote and bolster the rights of victims and survivors.
