Punjab University new affiliation portal goes operative

LAHORE: Punjab University unveiled its new affiliation portal on Wednesday, accompanied by reports for the academic sessions 2025-26 and 2026-27. The inauguration ceremony, held at Committee Room, was presided over by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali Shah. Present at the event were members of the Affiliation Committee, the Law Affiliation Committee Convener, the Director General, the Director of Student Affairs, and other senior officials.

The new affiliation portal, launched by PU, is part of a broader digital transformation initiative. It promises to streamline the process of applying for new affiliations, extensions, and increased student intake. Additionally, the portal facilitates online transmission of affiliation notifications and allows colleges to view crucial information, such as their names, approved student intake, and affiliation sessions.

The affiliation report underscored the university's commitment to transparency, efficiency, and the promotion of quality education. Prof Dr Muhammad Akram, Chair of the Law Affiliation Committee, highlighted that the portal would improve record management, boost transparency, and enhance access to information. According to the report, private sector colleges' revenue collections surged from Rs28.3 million in the 2025-26 session to Rs54 million in the 2026-27 session, marking an increase of over 90.1 percent.

Public sector colleges saw a similar rise, with collections growing from Rs39.4 million to Rs88.2 million, a 123.6 percent increase.

The report also noted that 10 new public sector colleges and 25 private sector colleges received affiliations from PU. The university remains committed to expanding its affiliation system, broadening academic opportunities, and reinforcing partnerships with affiliated colleges to improve access to quality education and contribute to the development of Pakistan's education sector.
