Pune Ganesh Visarjan 2026: Track Major Ganpati Processions Live, Check Traffic Diversions On One Portal

Pune residents can now track the movement of major Ganesh Visarjan mandals in real-time during the September 25 procession. The Pune Police have introduced a dedicated digital platform that offers live updates on the progress of selected Ganesh mandals, along with information on road closures, traffic diversions, parking areas, and alternate routes.

This system, which includes GPS trackers on around 40 prominent Ganesh mandals, will be particularly helpful for devotees seeking to witness specific idols or plan their travel accordingly.

The Pune Police's upgraded traffic portal, diversion.punepolice.gov.in, will provide citizens with the live location of the procession and its proximity to a chosen location. This will enable devotees to make informed decisions about when to leave home based on the procession's actual movement. The portal, which previously served during the Ashadhi Wari and Palkhi processions, will now showcase the live movement of major Ganesh mandals, with around 40 mandals covered.

By being linked with traffic management, the system will also relay any road closures or re-openings due to the immersion procession, allowing motorists to choose alternative routes based on the latest traffic situation. The portal's use during the Ganesh Visarjan will complement its earlier applications during major public events, such as the Ashadhi Wari, drawing in a significant number of users.

The technology, while not entirely novel for Pune, has been expanded to offer a more detailed view of the procession, providing commuters with the opportunity to check the situation before heading out rather than solely relying on static traffic advisories.
