‘Pradhan pati’ Raghubir Yadav doesn’t want a Panchayat film like Mirzapur: ‘Why ruin it?’

The recent theatrical success of Mirzapur: The Movie has sparked discussions about other popular Indian web series turning into films, with fans speculating if The Family Man and Panchayat will follow suit. Currently in its fourth season, Panchayat concluded its fourth installment in June 2025. Director Deepak Kumar Mishra hinted at a possible fifth season arriving in October-November 2026, though there has been little information about a potential film adaptation.

Actor Raghubir Yadav, who portrays the character Pradhan pati Brij Bhushan Dubey, expressed reservations about a Panchayat film. In a chat with Variety India, Raghubir argued that compressing the show's intricate storylines into a three-hour film could diminish its impact. He stated that there could be more seasons in development, and a film might "ruin the seasons" by shortchanging the characters' rich lives.

Despite his concerns, Raghubir indicated that he would not interfere if a film were to be made, leaving the decision to the writer. The success of Mirzapur: The Movie, which has earned Rs 322.39 crore worldwide, demonstrates the potential for web series adaptations to attract audiences.
