Pittsburgh Pirates secured their first non-losing season in eight years with a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. Mason Montgomery's 17th save in 19 chances helped improve the Pirates' record to 81-78 with three games remaining in the season. The Cardinals, meanwhile, fell to 77-82 and are assured of consecutive losing seasons for the first time since the 1994 and 1995 seasons.
