PHOTOS: Soludo’s wife empowers 5,000 Anambra residents with tools, cash

The Anambra State First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo, has distributed essential tools, equipment and financial support to over 5,000 residents in the state, as part of a program aimed at fostering sustainable development and promoting economic independence. The event took place at the Light House in Awka, the capital of Anambra, on Thursday, where beneficiaries, including the youth and the elderly, received items such as baking equipment, sewing and grinding machines, hair dryers, mannequins, generators, grills, and cash.

Dr Soludo emphasized the importance of the empowerment, stating that it reflects the power of partnership and shared responsibility, and reinforced the organization's conviction that "no one should be left behind in building stronger and more prosperous societies." She added that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state, ensuring that only those who genuinely needed the support were chosen.

The Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, affirmed that he left Anambra debt-free and rejected claims by the Soludo administration regarding otherwise. He expressed his belief in the program's potential to enable residents to become self-reliant and improve their livelihoods. The beneficiaries spoke highly of the support they received, praising the timely provision of essential equipment and cash support, which would enable them to improve their businesses and economic opportunities.
