Oudtshoorn Municipality praised for hosting Heritage day celebration

The Oudtshoorn Municipality in the Little Karoo region of the Western Cape has been commended for hosting this year's National Heritage celebrations. This marks the second consecutive year the event has been held in the town. Originally scheduled for KwaZulu-Natal, the celebrations were shifted to George and then to Oudtshoorn due to logistical considerations.

This year's theme is "Celebrating Our Living Heritage". President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the keynote address at the event. Deputy government spokesperson William Baloyi has expressed high praise for the local municipality's efforts in organizing the event. Baloyi noted that it is the second time the President is visiting Oudtshoorn for this occasion, which implies that the first edition was successful.

He commended the municipality for executing the event on such short notice, highlighting that it required a significant amount of experience and resourcefulness.

Baloyi emphasized that the success of the event is a testament to the municipality's ability to make the most of the resources available to them, ensuring the event aligns with its objectives. He underscored the importance of using local resources to maintain the relevance of heritage institutions for future generations.
