OneBC ‘overwhelmed’ with candidates but fails to get party status before B.C. vote

OneBC failed to secure official party status in the British Columbia legislature prior to the provincial election, yet its leader asserts that hundreds of individuals are eager to be their candidates on Oct. 24. Dallas Brodie, the party's leader, shared in a video statement on social media that they are overwhelmed with over 300 people who have signed up to be candidates, donations are increasing and membership is growing.

However, the party narrowly missed achieving official status after Conservative defector Brent Chapman, who is the husband of former Conservative leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay, did not submit his papers for the switch to OneBC before the election. Brodie admits to her followers on X that she is excited about the election, despite the expense and timing, as it is not necessary for NDP Leader David Eby to call an election with a majority government.
