NSUI warns of stir after university faculty member ‘confronts’ student on stage

The National Students Union of India (NSUI) in Gujarat has threatened to hold a protest in response to an alleged confrontation between a university faculty member and a student during a private university event in Ahmedabad. Videos posted on social media showed the incident, which took place during a stand-up comedy segment of an annual festival organized by one of the university's departments.

According to the videos, a student interrupted a faculty member's address by shouting a popular Hindi movie line, "Jaldi bol, kal subah Panvel nikalna hai." The faculty member then called the student to the stage, where a physical altercation occurred. NSUI Gujarat Vice President Vedant Tomar condemned the professor's actions, demanding his suspension.

However, Tomar stated that the matter had reportedly been resolved, and phone calls to the university were not returned.
