North Carolina fraud scheme stole over $650,000; man gets 15 months in prison

The town's history of financial problems dates back to its water system's ageing infrastructure, which has caused numerous issues and drained the town's funds. Despite millions in grant funding received over the past 15 years, the town's financial situation remains concerning.

Ronda's long history, which includes a past financial consultant accused of embezzlement and high turnover in the position of mayor, has also contributed to the town's current situation. The town board plans to initiate the dissolution process and hold a final vote to officially dissolve the town, although the timing of this event remains uncertain.
