Nissan teases new Patrol on South African soil ahead of 2027 arrival

Nissan has unveiled the all-new Y63 Patrol in South Africa, a preview of the model set to debut in 2027. The first of two new models from Nissan for the country, the Patrol will be the second right-hand drive market to receive the vehicle, following Australia. Nissan South Africa Managing Director Juan Wheeler revealed during the Tekton launch that the vehicle will arrive at the end of Nissan's 2026 fiscal year, likely in March or April.

The Y63 Patrol boasts dimensions that are slightly wider and taller than its predecessor, the Y62, without altering the overall length or wheelbase. With seating for seven, the vehicle's boot capacity is expected to range from 577-litres to 1,594-litres, a 110- and 181-litre increase over the Y62, respectively. The Y63 Patrol will be powered by the same 3.5-litre VR35DDTT twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine as its Australian counterpart, delivering 317kW/700Nm of power through a new nine-speed automatic gearbox.

The vehicle will also feature Nissan's biometric climate control system, adaptive dynamic air suspension, and massaging front seats, along with a 12-speaker Klipsch sound system and a 14.3-inch dual infotainment system. The dual 12.3-inch displays for the second row are an additional feature, although their standard or optional status remains to be determined. More information about the Patrol's market release is expected to be disclosed in the coming year.
