The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has intensified maritime enforcement with a new operation named "Blue-Green" in key operational areas of Lagos. Deputy Director/Head of Public Relations at NIMASA, Osagie Edward, revealed that the operation involved deploying assets of the Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure, also known as the Deep Blue structure, alongside maritime security units.
The operation combined intelligence gathering, analysis, target development, and coordinated enforcement at sea. NIMASA has introduced a specialized intelligence capability within the NIMASA Deep Blue and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence System to improve identification, assessment, and prioritization of vessels of interest.
Director-General of NIMASA, Dr Dayo Mobereola, stated that "Blue-Green" would now become a regular occurrence. The deployment of multiple enforcement platforms aims to deter criminal intentions and strengthen maritime compliance, consequently supporting improved revenue generation.
