Most wanted terrorist, aide captured without gunfire – FG

The Federal Government of Nigeria announced the successful capture of one of the world's most notorious terrorists, Mamuda, and his chief of staff without any gunfire. This significant achievement is attributed to improved coordination and collaboration among security and intelligence agencies under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this information during a press conference in Abuja ahead of Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary. Idris emphasized that the administration has seen greater coordination between security agencies and intelligence services, which has led to the capture of these highly sought-after criminals.

Mamuda and his chief of staff, who had bounties placed on their heads by the United States and Europe, are now facing trial. Idris acknowledged that while Nigeria still faces security challenges, including terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, the country is making progress in confronting these criminal elements. He also mentioned the expansion of the Nigerian Army from eight to 12 divisions and the approval of additional military platforms and equipment to bring troops closer to areas of operation.
