Morgan Stanley Leaked Some Deals

In an unfortunate incident, a senior Morgan Stanley banker responsible for dealing with financial sponsors in Asia inadvertently leaked their deal pipeline through an email that was sent to clients, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation. The banker's error occurred when he unintentionally attached the group's deal pipeline in a weekly update email he was supposed to send to clients.

Morgan Stanley, the Wall Street bank, expressed its commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and stated that they took immediate action to rectify the unintentional sharing of information. A spokesperson for the bank acknowledged the mishap and requested recipients to delete any copies of the attached document and refrain from further distribution, as reported by Reuters.

The leaked email, dated September 21, contained roughly 60 live IPO, M&A, and block trade deals across Greater China, South Korea, Southeast Asia, India, and the EMEA region. Additionally, it included over 50 deals that were classified as "pitching" and nearly 30 deals categorized as "on hold". All of these deals involved Asian companies. Most of the companies mentioned in the list belong to the portfolios of prominent global and regional private equity and venture capital firms.

Bloomberg initially reported the incident late on Wednesday, and the list remained undisclosed, containing no details about specific deals. Many of the deals listed have already been reported prior to this incident, according to some recipients who received the email.
