More than 160,000 pounds of meat bearing false USDA inspection labels recalled

More than 83 tons of meat is being recalled across the United States due to improper inspection and falsified inspection stickers, according to the Department of Agriculture. Star Meat Delivery Inc., based in North Carolina, is recalling over 167,000 pounds of raw pork, beef, and goat. The USDA stated that the number may increase as they continue their investigation.

The recalled meat was produced before September 22 and bears a false establishment number that does not have federal inspection approval. No illnesses or injuries have been reported so far. The meat was shipped to a Georgia distributor that sent it to retail and restaurant locations nationwide. Star Meat Delivery has denied any wrongdoing, stating that the establishment number was "legitimately reserved" as part of the USDA application process.
