Mitsuki reaches career-high ATP ranking to write Malaysian tennis history

KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsuki Leong, the national tennis player, has etched his name in Malaysian tennis history by reaching a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 421. This feat surpasses the previous high marks set by Malaysian tennis legends V. Selvam (No. 424, December 1994) and Adam Malik (No. 436, April 1995). Adam Malik currently holds the title of the highest-ranked Malaysian doubles player (No. 122, June 1994).

Mitsuki, who is 22 years old, has been on the international tennis tour for almost four years. He expressed his satisfaction with this achievement, stating that it has been a great experience. The young athlete is delighted with his ranking and believes it will open up more opportunities for him to secure direct entry into ATP Challenger events.

Mitsuki's ultimate goal is to continue improving his performance and reach an even higher ranking. Over the past few weeks, he has shown exceptional form, reaching the quarter-finals in Guangzhou (Challenger 100) and the semi-finals in Zhangjiagang (Challenger 75). The young tennis player has faced several challenges throughout his career, including funding issues.
