Mekki Leeper to Star and Create Comedy Series ‘New Money’ at Prime Video

Actor Mekki Leeper is set to star, produce, write, and executive produce the new comedy series “New Money” for Prime Video. The half-hour series will follow an ensemble of misguided workers at New Money Worldwide, a failing private equity firm, as they recklessly invest money in pursuit of exponential profits. Leeper, known for roles in “Jury Duty” and “St.

Denis Medical,” will share showrunning duties with Joe Mande, who is also an executive producer. The series is described as a workplace comedy centered around the delusions of grandeur of a trust-fund baby turned self-proclaimed mogul and his team of misfits. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, “New Money” is based on the pilot “Fintech,” which Leeper self-financed, created, and directed.

Amazon MGM Studios head Peter Friedlander praised Leeper's unique comedic perspective, expressing excitement for audiences to discover the show. Leeper can be seen in NBC’s “St. Denis Medical” and films such as “Jury Duty.” Mande, who has worked on “Hacks” and various acclaimed series, serves as a writer, producer, and executive producer on “New Money.”
