Mahama to UN: No race is superior, every human being belongs to human family

President John Dramani Mahama, addressing the United Nations General Assembly at its 81st Session in New York, emphasized that every human being is part of the human family, asserting that no race is superior and no nation inferior. Mahama, who hails from Damongo in northern Ghana, stressed that individuals carry histories, cultures and legacies that make up the larger human narrative.

He lamented how belonging can be weaponized to promote nationalism, chauvinism and discrimination, thereby fueling conflicts. Mahama underscored that all people have origins, carry inherited memories, cherish unique cultures and identities regardless of their linguistic, religious, racial or geographic distinctions. He reiterated that the United Nations must uphold the moral principle that no race is superior, no nation inferior, and no individual's life is less valuable based on their language, faith, skin color or place of birth.
