Leiter says hospitalized son still in danger after car-ramming terror attack

Ambassador Yechiel Leiter, whose son Neria was gravely injured in a car-ramming terror attack on Wednesday, maintained that his son's life remained at risk during a press conference on Thursday outside the Shaare Zedek Medical Center where he is receiving treatment. Leiter explained that his son's ordeal was distinct from the loss of his eldest son, who was killed in combat the previous year, and whose body could not be brought to a hospital for treatment.

Unlike that tragic incident, there was now hope that Neria could recover, as his condition had stabilized. Leiter's daughter had recently given birth in the same hospital, situated just 40 meters away from her brother. He expressed gratitude for the ongoing prayers from the public and emphasized the seriousness of his son's condition, which remained in danger despite several examinations and surgeries.

Neria, an IDF reservist, was struck by a car-ramming terrorist during a routine checkpoint on Route 443 near Modi'in-Maccabim. Tragically, Leiter's other son, Maj. (res.) Moshe Yedidya, was killed in Gaza earlier this year, serving as a company commander in the 551st Brigade's 697th Battalion.
