Lee says combining S. Korea's technology with Mexico's industrial base can create new growth

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung emphasized that merging South Korea's technological prowess with Mexico's robust industrial foundation could spur new economic growth, according to a media interview. He highlighted artificial intelligence and supply chains as key areas for collaboration. For Korean firms, Mexico serves as a vital strategic hub, not merely a production site, for accessing North American and global markets.

During his state visit, Lee engaged in summit discussions with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. He posited that amalgamating Korea's technological expertise, manufacturing prowess, and economic history with Mexico's workforce and strong industrial base could yield fresh growth prospects. South Korea and Mexico possess ample potential to intensify cooperation in strategic realms, such as semiconductors, aerospace, and electric vehicles, owing to Mexico's automotive industry and Korea's battery and electric vehicle components strengths.

Lee advocated for heightened cooperation in AI, positing that joint pilot projects and technological exchanges could generate fresh demand and open new markets. He underscored Mexico's substantial energy resources and geo-economic advantages as an essential ally for South Korea amid escalating geopolitical instability.
