Learn Africa announces retirement of director Egbichi Akinsanya after six years

Learn Africa has announced that Mrs. Egbichi Akinsanya has retired from her role as an Independent Non-Executive Director, concluding a six-year tenure on the company's Board of Directors. The company disclosed the news in a statement signed by DCSL Corporate Services Limited, Learn Africa's Company Secretaries. Akinsanya's retirement was effective as of September 22, 2026.

The statement from Learn Africa highlighted Akinsanya's significant contributions to the company during her time on the board, emphasizing how her expertise bolstered the company's governance framework and supported its long-term growth goals. Notably, Akinsanya joined Learn Africa's board alongside technology entrepreneur and investor Iyinoluwa Aboyeji in 2020. Her departure coincides with that of Aboyeji, who also exited the board, marking the exit of both directors appointed during the same period.

Prior to her appointment at Learn Africa, Akinsanya had a distinguished career spanning the banking, regulatory, and consumer goods sectors. She served as Managing Director of FBC Beverages Company Limited and Group Treasurer at British American Tobacco Nigeria Limited. Before joining British American Tobacco, Akinsanya worked at Citibank Nigeria Limited, where she held the position of Assistant General Manager. She was also a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Nigeria.

Akinsanya is recognized for her membership in the Chartered Governance Institute, United Kingdom and Ireland, and her qualifications as a Chartered Accountant in Nigeria. Currently, she serves as Chairman of the Board of FMDQ Private Markets Limited. Learn Africa expressed gratitude for Akinsanya's invaluable contributions to the company, acknowledging her expertise in corporate governance, finance, and strategic leadership.

Her retirement marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in Learn Africa's governance history as the educational publishing company continues to enhance its leadership team and advance its growth objectives.
