Kori Cheverie promoted to head coach of Team Canada for women’s world hockey championship

Canada's national women's ice hockey team has appointed Kori Cheverie as their head coach for the upcoming world championship in Denmark in November. This promotion comes after Cheverie's recent coaching stint with the PWHL Montreal Victoire team, where they clinched the Walter Cup title in May. Cheverie replaces Troy Ryan, who stepped down from the head coach position in May following his contract expiration.

Cheverie, who served as Ryan's national team assistant since 2021, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to lead Team Canada at this critical stage in the team's development. The appointment of Cheverie marks a new chapter for Canada as they enter a new Olympic cycle and aim to overcome their recent struggles, particularly against the United States.
