Keshav Maharaj and Bjorn Fortuin send Australia into a spin as Proteas claim victory

South Africa's cricket team dominated Australia in their opening One-Day International (ODI) match on Thursday, winning by a significant margin of 67 runs in Durban. In a thrilling encounter, the Proteas won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a challenging target of 298 runs for Australia to chase.

Australian captain Mitchell Marsh put on a steady performance with a well-paced 60 runs off 36 balls, providing a solid foundation for his team. Supporting Marsh were Travis Head (36), Cooper Connolly (38), and Matt Renshaw (44), who all contributed valuable runs. However, Australia's lower-order crumbled under the pressure, ultimately being dismissed for 230 runs in the 42nd over of their innings.

For South Africa, veteran slow bowler Keshav Maharaj took 4 wickets for just 20 runs, while fellow spinner Bjorn Fortuin claimed 2 wickets for 34 runs. Seam bowler Corbin Bosch also contributed with the ball, conceding 2 wickets for 67 runs but was less economical with the bat.
