KEDCO explains reason for power outage in Kano

The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has explained the ongoing power outage impacting sections of Kano city, attributing it to faults on the 132kV Kumbotso–Dan’Agundi transmission line. This situation arose following the tripping of an earth-fault relay triggered by a windstorm on September 21. KEDCO disclosed that engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) found multiple conductor cuts and tilted cross arms upon inspecting the affected line.

These issues necessitated isolating the line and removing specific equipment for repairs and fabrication. The company acknowledged that this damage had disrupted electricity supply to most customers in the Kano metropolis. KEDCO is actively working with TCN to restore power, providing alternative sources of electricity to affected customers while repairs are underway.

The company expressed regret for the inconvenience and assured customers that normal service would resume once the repair work is completed by TCN.
