Prominent British boxers Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are set to face off in a highly anticipated all-British heavyweight match at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11, according to reports by BBC Sport. The bout marks a reunion of two of Britain’s most renowned heavyweight athletes, following their respective victories in July.

Fury secured a seventh-round victory over Mariusz Wach in Pattaya, Thailand, while Joshua overcame two knockdowns in the first round before defeating Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Joshua’s recent triumph came just a month after he survived a devastating car crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his close friends Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.

Prior to the fight, both Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn had initially favored a venue at Wembley Stadium. However, Joshua’s contractual obligations with the Saudi promoters dictated that the match must take place in Britain. If the event were to be held in the United States, it would necessitate renegotiation of the existing deal.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has emphasized the magnitude of the fight for Joshua’s career, stating, “There is a desperation to win this fight and this is why sport is the greatest.” Hearn further explained that Joshua’s entire career hinges on this significant clash, which has been years in the making due to ongoing negotiations and speculation.
