Judge orders Trump White House to restore access to CNN, MS Now and Politico

In a recent court ruling, US District Judge Tim Kelly ordered the Trump administration to restore access to journalists from CNN, MS Now, and Politico. The judge declared that the ban on these media outlets, imposed by the president on September 18th, was likely unconstitutional. Kelly's order is set to remain in place for 14 days.

Prior to making his decision, the judge referenced previous case law that highlights the importance of a distinct process, which includes advance notice of an infraction and the opportunity to plead one's case. Before reaching his decision, Kelly emphasized that journalists should be entitled to pre-deprivation notice and an opportunity to be heard before their White House credentials were suspended or revoked.

During a recent social media post, Trump criticized the three outlets, stating that they should not be able to "constantly write or report FICTION and LIES." The Justice Department had attempted to justify the ban on national security grounds.
