Josh Heupel's record against Texas all time as a coach, player

Josh Heupel, the head coach of the University of Central Florida, will face Texas for the first time since 2014 on Saturday. Throughout his career as a player and assistant coach, Heupel holds an impressive 8-5 record against the Longhorns. In his role as Oklahoma's quarterback, he achieved a 1-1 record, securing a narrow win on October 7, 2000, while losing to Texas by a score of 38-28 on October 9, 1999.

As an assistant coach at Oklahoma, Heupel compiled a 7-4 record against Texas, winning matches in 2003-04, 2007, 2010-12, and 2014, while falling short in 2006, 2008-09, and 2013. Before becoming UCF's head coach, Heupel served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Missouri in 2017. Notably, he did not coach the Tigers in the Texas Bowl against the Longhorns on December 27, 2017.

Hired as UCF's head coach on December 5, 2017, Heupel expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming Tennessee-Texas game in a statement on Monday. He asserted that fans will be at their best on Saturday, 12 o'clock when the ball is teed up, promising a highly competitive contest between the Nos. 13 and No. 1 teams in the ABC Stadium.
