Jalgaon: Collector Visits Farmers’ Fields To Assess Crop Damage Amid Drought-Like Conditions

In Jalgaon district, District Collector Rohan Ghuge embarked on a visit to various villages in Bhusawal and Jamner talukas to evaluate the impact of drought-like conditions on crops. His objective was to gather insights on the condition of farmers' fields, soil moisture levels, crop growth, and projected yields.

To form a precise assessment of the agricultural impact, a preliminary cotton picking experiment, also known as a crop cutting experiment (CCE), was carried out in Fekari village under Ghuge's direct supervision. The weight of the cotton obtained during this experiment was documented in the CCE system, with the presence of a representative from an insurance company.

The District Collector also inspected cotton, soybean, and maize fields in Kurhapana, and soybean and maize crops in Chorwad. In Mahukheda, situated in Jamner taluka, he examined maize, soybean, and tur (pigeon pea) fields, seeking direct feedback from farmers about the crops' current status.

The administration and Agriculture Department are conducting these direct field inspections to obtain factual data necessary for making appropriate administrative decisions. The survey results reveal that crops like cotton, soybean, maize, and tur in the district have experienced considerable damage due to the lack of rainfall.
