Israel’s Abu Farchi sent off after gun gesture celebration

In a UEFA Nations League match between Israel and Austria, Israel forward Saied Abu Farchi was sent off for an inappropriate celebration. (Instagram pic) The incident occurred during the 55th minute of the 3-1 defeat suffered by Israel at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz on Thursday. With a goal by Romano Schmid for Austria in the first half, the Israeli team levelled the score through Abu Farchi's strike.

However, Abu Farchi's celebration proved to be his downfall. The 20-year-old player, running to the corner flag, grabbed it and made a gesture resembling a gun during his celebrations, earning him a second yellow card from the referee and subsequently a red card. This resulted in Israel playing with 10 players for the remainder of the match.

Austria capitalized on the reduced number of Israeli players, regaining the lead in the 90th minute through Phillipp Mwene's goal following a cross from Paul Wanner. Despite the setback, Sasa Kalajdzic managed to score a third goal for Austria in stoppage time with a close-range finish.
