I’m going to court; let Raymond Archer come and arrest me – Salomey Baffoe’s lawyer dares ahead of bail hearing

Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has boldly declared his intention to appear in court today, despite being labeled wanted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). The outspoken lawyer, speaking on JoyNews' PM Express, vowed not to be intimidated by the prospect of arrest, stating that his legal training demands courage and boldness, especially when representing vulnerable clients.

"If a client can speak for himself, they will never hire a lawyer," Baffour Awuah explained. "And so if you're a lawyer and you're a coward, then you're not worth your training as a lawyer." The MP expressed readiness to face EOCO officials when he makes his court appearance, affirming, "Tomorrow, I'm going to court. Raymond should arrest me. My brother, I am ready. He has power. He thinks that he can abuse the power today. It is okay."

Baffour Awuah accused EOCO Chief Raymond Archer of abusing state power, claiming his legal intervention in his client's case, Salomey Bafoo – a poor woman from Techiman Hansua with three children – was aimed at protecting her fundamental human rights. He defended individuals who allegedly aided him in avoiding what he termed an attempted abduction, arguing that such assistance did not constitute unlawful activity.

Baffour Awuah criticized EOCO for lacking proper legal guidance, stating that their actions were unlawful. He also alleged that an EOCO official physically assaulted his colleague, Afuaqua, whose eye was bruised, and advised Baffour Awuah to file a formal complaint. Despite the controversy, Baffour Awuah remains unwavering in his commitment to defend his client, asserting, "With all humility, when I'm defending a poor person, I do it wholeheartedly.

And so this is not going to cow me until I see my client out. It won't cow me to submission." He further expressed his confidence, stating, "I dwell in the shadows of the Almighty. I'm clear in my mind that I'm secured and fortified by the Most High God. Nothing, nobody will prevail against me so long as, particularly, I'm fighting for the poor."
