I was sexually assaulted in 2021, says Ex-England striker Andy Carroll

Former England international footballer Andy Carroll has revealed that he was sexually assaulted at his residence in 2021. In his recently published autobiography Owning It, Carroll disclosed the details of the incident, which occurred during his second tenure at Newcastle United. Initially, Carroll had requested anonymity as a victim, but he decided to make the incident public after extensive discussions with his girlfriend Lou Teasdale.

Carroll stated that the assault took place while he was asleep and that he had to confront the perpetrator, who was later convicted and sentenced to three years in prison. Carroll recounted the traumatic experience as "humiliating, embarrassing and absolutely horrendous" and said that the assault has affected every aspect of his life, including his football career. He emphasized that sharing his story could help others who have gone through similar experiences.
