I am a perfectionist – Actor William Lamptey

Ghanaian actor William Lamptey has revealed that his recent victory in the 2026 Africa Monologue Challenge has convinced him that he is a perfectionist. The actor, who participated in the competition held in Ghana, opened up about the role monologues have played in his creative journey during an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes show.

Lamptey shared that winning the challenge has made him realize his tendency to strive for perfection in his artistry. He emphasized that he constantly criticizes himself in order to ensure that his work is of the highest quality. The actor cited his final two monologues, titled "Down Syndrome" and "Truth," as pivotal performances that contributed to his success.

These monologues resonated with both viewers and judges, earning him the titles of "Viewers' Favourite" and "Judges' Favourite." This double win provided Lamptey with a strong foundation and boosted his confidence, motivating him to continue pushing his boundaries and ultimately clinching the competition. Despite acknowledging that he may not be more talented than his competitors, Lamptey attributes his victory to a combination of favor and gratitude towards God.

He expressed his deep appreciation for the support he received from Ghanaians and his fans throughout the competition, acknowledging their role in his triumph.
