HMWS&SB to geo tag all private STPs; mandatory registrations by Oct. 1

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has mandated all Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) operators, agencies, residential colonies, and industries to register their STPs details by October 1. All private STPs will undergo a survey and be geo-tagged, with their data integrated into HMWSSB's database for monitoring and quality assessments.

The registration process requires disclosing the plant's treatment capacity, output, and water-quality parameters, including Chemical Oxygen Demand, Biochemical Oxygen Demand, pH, and Total Suspended Solids (TSS). Private STPs looking to supply treated wastewater can register as certified suppliers. HMWSSB aims to enhance the utilization of treated wastewater and bolster water conservation initiatives in the city.

The treated wastewater will primarily be used for non-potable purposes, such as gardening, industrial operations, cleaning, and construction activities. Registration can be completed through the official HMWSSB website: hyderabadwater.gov.in.
