‘Hidden hands’ behind RoS action against PN, claims Wawasan

Wawasan has accused the Registrar of Societies (RoS) of having "hidden hands" behind their decision to suspend Perikatan Nasional (PN), citing the timing of the action and the approaching Melaka state election. The coalition was informed of two notices from the RoS: one asking PN to explain why its registration should not be cancelled, and the other ordering the coalition to suspend its activities.

Wawasan believes the timing of these notices, which coincided with the dissolution of the Melaka state legislative assembly, suggests politically motivated actions to prevent PN from contesting the upcoming election. Wawasan pledged to work closely with PN component parties to ensure the election machinery proceeds smoothly. The RoS stated the suspension was to allow PN to respond to a complaint from Bersatu, which took effect yesterday.

Pejuang, a group within PN, demanded answers from the RoS, questioning the use of its powers against an opposition coalition and requesting clarification on the alleged violations. Pejuang called upon the home minister to publicly disclose whether he or anyone in government directed or influenced the RoS's action.
