Greece's Golden Generation: the new factory of football talents

The cradle of Western civilization has also become a remarkable source of football talent, producing a new generation of stars that is set to make waves in the sport. After not having a World Cup appearance since 2014, Greece is now in a new cycle aiming for the 2030 World Cup, filled with hope and a wealth of talent.

The team's coach, Ivan Jovanovic, has called up some big names for the new cycle, including three players who were nominees for the Golden Boy award: Christos Mouzakitis, Konstantinos Karetsas, and Charalampos Kostoulas. Mouzakitis, a 19-year-old midfielder, recently moved to Hull City for €15 million and has already made his debut in the League Cup.

Karetsas, another 19-year-old, is known for his assists and has played for Genk in the Bundesliga. Kostoulas, 19, is a forward with 4 goals and 2 assists in 8 matches this season, and he is currently Arsenal's top scorer in the Premier League.

Greece's attacking force also includes Vangelis Pavlidis, a 27-year-old forward with more than 50 appearances for Greece and 14 goals in the European season. He plays for Benfica and has been consistently scoring in each of his last three seasons. Tasos Douvikas, 27, is another forward who scored 14 goals for Como in the Champions League and was involved in their opening-day match against Leipzig. Ioannidis, 26, might not be as prominent as Pavlidis, but he is still an interesting option up front.

On the defensive side, Greece has experienced defenders like Kostas Koulierakis, who is 22 and recently moved to Roma, and Konstantinos Tzolakis, 23, who is a starter for Hull City after a successful stint at Olympiacos. The goalkeeper position, however, remains with Odysseas Vlachodimos, who is 27 and has been the first-choice goalkeeper for Sevilla in La Liga.
