Graham Bensinger: Seahawks PR Was Provided With Controversial Clip

Graham Bensinger, a representative from the Seattle Seahawks, discussed a controversial segment of an interview with Mike Macdonald, the head coach of the team, which was aired on "In Depth with Graham Bensinger." During the interview, Macdonald revealed that the Seahawks had obtained fan videos of practices which aided them in defeating the Broncos 26-20 during their opening game in 2024.

In response, Macdonald suggested that the Seahawks' general manager, John Lynch, could create a scandal similar to the one the New England Patriots faced in the Spygate incident. The Seahawks subsequently threatened Macdonald. Macdonald claimed that his remarks were off the record and apologized to Payton. Newsweek contacted Bensinger's team for a response, who informed them that the Seahawks had provided the complete interview, including the contentious segment, to PR five days prior to its publication on September 16.

The team stated that there were no concerns raised about the exchange during the review period, and they never requested its removal. Bensinger's team removed the part about Payton immediately upon Macdonald's request on Tuesday morning. However, other outlets had already clipped that portion, which continues to circulate on social media.

Bensinger expressed regret for including that part of the interview and emphasized his deep respect for Macdonald and the Seahawks.
