Govt to Launch Gender Tracker System to Monitor Online Harassment of Women

The government is set to launch a gender tracker system aimed at monitoring online harassment of women and the unauthorized use of their images and videos. Additionally, a special portal and digital dashboard for gender-based violence will also be introduced soon. This announcement was made during a committee meeting chaired by Nafisa Shah, where Nooreen Bano, the Acting Chairperson of the National Commission on the Status of Women, provided a briefing on the ongoing reforms.

Bano revealed that a baseline survey is currently being conducted across all four provinces to enhance the commission's complaint system. Efforts are being made to adapt the system to Urdu, Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi, and other languages to make it more accessible and effective. The commission has also suggested hiring women lawyers in every province to offer legal support to women.

The national gender dashboard will evaluate the situation of women using 115 indicators, with the goal of completing the Women Facilitation Centre by 2027. This centre will provide services such as NADRA, passports, health, counselling, and legal assistance in one location. Bano mentioned that reports have been requested from all provincial police chiefs to ensure timely and comprehensive data on cases registered against crimes committed against women. The government is also working on the National Gender Equality Report and the gender dashboard.
