Ganesh immersion finale to take over Hyderabad roads on Friday

Ganesh immersion celebrations in Hyderabad will culminate in a major procession taking over the city's roads on Friday, according to reports. The main procession will commence from Balapur and traverse through various neighborhoods, including Old City, Old City, Central Hyderabad, Tank Bund, and NTR Marg before reaching the final immersion points. Simultaneously, smaller processions from different parts of the city will converge at the main route or head towards designated immersion points through pre-designated corridors.

Commuters can expect significant disruptions on central Hyderabad roads from 6 a.m. on Friday until 10 a.m. on Saturday, as the main procession route will be exclusively reserved for vehicles carrying Ganesh idols. Authorities have advised drivers to use alternative routes such as Inner Ring Road, Masab Tank-Punjagutta-Begumpet-Secunderabad corridor, or the Outer Ring Road to avoid traffic congestion.

To facilitate idol immersion, police have identified 47 lakes and ponds across the city, located in zones like Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, Charminar, Golconda, Khairatabad, and Secunderabad. Notable facilities include Saroornagar Lake, Jiyaguda Pond, Sanjeevaiah Park Baby Pond, and Jawahar Nagar Baby Pond.

To manage the influx of visitors, 13 parking locations have been earmarked for those attending the procession and immersion ceremonies. Heavy commercial vehicles and trailers with inter-district and national permits will be barred from entering Hyderabad during the specified timeframe. Lorries and construction equipment vehicles will also face restrictions from 6 a.m. on Friday until 11 p.m. on Saturday.

In addition to these measures, private buses have been directed to operate from locations outside the city and avoid roads until noon on Saturday. Travelers heading to the airport are advised to avoid key areas and instead utilize alternative routes like PVNR Expressway or Outer Ring Road.
