Ex-Pakistan Selector Calls Fatima Sana a Bigger Superstar Than Babar Azam

Former Pakistan cricket selector Mohammad Wasim asserts that captain Fatima Sana is currently the more popular figure among the national teams, surpassing Test captain Babar Azam. Wasim, who served as the head coach of the women's team until November 2025, expressed pride in Fatima's abilities, yet lamented that her consistent performances often lead to defeat.

During a recent TV appearance, when asked if she was the most popular cricketer in Pakistan, Wasim concurred with the claim, affirming that popularity is indeed earned through consistent performance. He likened Fatima to top Pakistani male cricketers, highlighting her as the current superstar, both in terms of batting and bowling.

Wasim noted that while the men's team's star players may not receive as much favorable media attention, Fatima consistently garners praise, even if her teams are losing. The former selector also mentioned other cricket stars are not receiving similar acclaim.
