Ex-England star Dele Alli handed career lifeline as fourth-tier side leaves 'doors open'

Former England international Dele Alli has been given a career lifeline after Barnet manager Dean Brennan extended an open invitation for him to train with the club's squad. The 30-year-old has been without a team since September 2025, after leaving Serie A side Como following just one appearance. Recent footage showed Alli training solo at Barnet's ground, The Hive.

Brennan, speaking to talkSPORT, expressed his support for Alli, stating that the midfielder is going through a tough time and needs a chance. He emphasized that everyone deserves a second chance in life and added that the club has facilities available for rent. This opportunity could not come at a better time for Alli, who has been out of action since March 2025, having been sent off in his only match for Como.

If Alli can secure a move to Barnet, he would join a strong team that has just returned to the English Football League (EFL) after a seven-year hiatus. The Bees are currently sitting atop League Two and remain undefeated after seven league fixtures.
