Estonian Defence Forces sign three-year defence tech partnership with VC Archangel

The Estonian Defence Forces (EDF) and defense-focused venture capital fund Archangel have entered into a three-year partnership agreement. This collaboration aims to enhance cooperation and support the growth of the defence sector in Estonia and the broader Baltic region.

Archangel, established in 2025, provides early-stage defense technology companies with capital, industry expertise, and access to a network of defense and technology partners. The firm's portfolio includes investments in companies working on autonomous systems, battlefield software, AI, and secure operational infrastructure.

The EDF and Archangel will collaborate to facilitate information exchange and connections between the Defence Forces, defense technology companies, and investors. The primary goal is to foster the development and adoption of relevant technologies in the region.

The partnership was formalized at the ABCD Conference, with Major Ivo Peets, Commander of the EDF's Force Transformation Command, and Nicholas Nelson, Founder and Managing Partner of Archangel, signing the agreement. Major Peets emphasized the importance of such cooperation in building a shared understanding of defense needs, technology, and opportunities.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Nelson highlighted Archangel's mission to support the growth of Europe's defense technology ecosystem and its commitment to working closely with the Defence Forces to better understand user needs and help companies scale.
